Writer's Workshop Thursday

If you give (this) mom a moment...

She would shower alone.

Or.

She would finish a chapter in her book, uninterrupted.

Or.

She would eat lunch without having to share.

Or.

She would paint her nails.

Or.

She would call a childless friend and not feel the need to hurry off the phone because someone was crying in the background.

Or.

She would lay on the couch and close her eyes.

But most probably,

She would turn the dryer on, do the dishes, start dinner, make her bed, clean up the toys that were on the floor, water the plants, answer an email, check facebook statuses, straighten up her bathroom, disinfect the potty, download new pictures of G, fold the laundry that comes out of the dryer, finish dinner, wash those dishes, and ...

Oops the moment is over.

Monkey See Monkey Do

I love watching my darling 2 year old play make believe with her dolls. She has the nurture bug bad! I can't help but think she must've learned it from her mommy, right? Anytime she sees a baby she wants to hug it, feed it, love it, sigh... What a good job I am doing.

The other day she wanted to take her Elmo doll for a walk in his umbrella stroller. It was going to be a long journey from her play room to the living room so she needed to stock up her purse. Phone? Check. Ear buds? Check. Teething Ring? Check. Apron? Check. Coffee? Check. (No, not real coffee, it's a can of apple juice that she pretends is her coffee. By pretends I mean she yells at Elmo "No, Mommy coffee!") And they were off. Wait, a snag. Elmo's legs won't bend for him to sit properly in the stroller. "Elmo SIT DOWN." I calmly explain to her that his legs do not bend and not to yell at her baby. She decides that Elmo standing will have to do and grabs her other baby upside down by one leg and they are off.

As she rounds the corner, dangling baby's head smacks into the wall. "Aww baby, you ok? I sorry." Sigh... What a good job I'm doing.

Oh all that yelling? I don't know where she gets that from.

... And a Blog Was Born

There is so much pressure for the first post.

I have had this blog named and ready to go for weeks. Ideas for posts are aching to be explored. Comments on other blogs are waiting to be sent.

But I can't start. Not until I have the first post written. A perfect expression of who I am and what my purpose is.

Well I say, screw that. Here it is, Here I am.

A real housewife of Orange County.

... And a blog was born.
